Kate Cain is Chief Knowledge & Innovation Officer at Sheppard Mullin. She is a legal technology veteran with more than 25 years of experience leading initiatives spanning knowledge management, practice innovation, marketing, finance, information technology and operations. Kate leads teams focused on delivering solutions to impact client service delivery, firm strategy, and practice growth, building on her previous roles at Fenwick, Sidley, Winston & Strawn and Kirkland & Ellis. At Sheppard Mullin, this includes leading business professionals providing litigation support and ediscovery services, legal and business research, competitive intelligence, knowledge management, practice-specific solutions and AI strategy. Previously, Kate worked with Foundation Software Group (later Litera), leading product design and management efforts. A recipient of the Monica Bay STEM Leadership Award and the ILTA Distinguished Peer Leadership Award, Kate is a long-time ILTA volunteer having served six years on the Board of Directors. She continues to be a frequent speaker and writer for ILTA, LMA, Inside Practice and others.
