The Autonomous Legal Profession Is Already Being Built

Law firms and in-house legal teams are beginning to deploy autonomous, stateful AI systems that plan, act and persist across legal workflows, systems that increasingly resemble digital junior staff rather than tools.

These new AI systems can intake matters, retrieve and reason over institutional knowledge, draft and iterate documents, trigger downstream actions, and maintain memory across time.

They introduce powerful new delivery models, but also new classes of operational, professional and systemic risk that cannot be managed by “AI policies” alone.

Agentic AI Design for the Legal Profession is a one-day, peer-led working forum focused on how legal organisations design by law  - engineering autonomous legal capability that is safe, accountable, auditable and production-ready from first principles. It brings together law firms and in-house legal leaders who are actively building, commissioning, or governing agent-based legal operating systems.

This is a design + engineering + risk convergence forum for organisations responsible for deploying autonomous legal systems into live legal service delivery.

Delegates will examine:

  • How firms are designing agent workflows for research, drafting, intake, triage and knowledge operations
  • How autonomous legal systems fail: technically, procedurally and professionally
  • How firms detect failure in live production environments and how it is contained, corrected and prevented by architectural design
  • How professional obligations are translated into system design, evaluation, testing and control layers
  • How technical architecture decisions (memory, retrieval, connectors, MCP, permissions, evaluation loops) directly determine liability, auditability and service integrity

This forum focuses on designed capability, not abstract governance, and on what it really takes to operate autonomous legal systems safely at scale.

Why Attend

Delegates will leave with practical design frameworks and architectural guidance for building and operating agentic legal systems in live environments, including:

  • Agent design patterns for structuring autonomous legal workflows with human oversight
  • Evaluation and testing models for verifying agent reasoning, output integrity and escalation behaviour
  • Methods for detecting agent failure, hallucination, drift, leakage and mis-execution in production
  • Architectural approaches for preventing failure through memory design, retrieval controls, permissioning and audit layers
  • Practical guidance on securely connecting agents to DMS, CRM, research and matter systems
  • A design by law framework for translating professional obligations into system architecture
  • Readiness tools for assessing where your firm’s architecture, people and risk controls already are, and what must change

Who Attends

  • Heads of AI, Legal Engineering, and Advanced Legal Technology
  • CIOs, CTOs, and IT Leaders responsible for AI platforms and system integration
  • Data, Systems, and Enterprise Architects designing agentic workflows

More

Our Speaking Faculty

We are curating a senior, practitioner-led faculty for Agentic AI Design

for the Legal Profession and welcome proposals from those actively designing, building, deploying, and governing autonomous AI systems inside legal organisations.

We welcome contributions from those who can:

  • Share a real-world case study on deploying agentic or autonomous AI systems in live legal workflows (e.g. research, drafting, diligence, litigation support, or knowledge systems)
  • Lead a strategic discussion on agentic AI architecture, orchestration frameworks, system integration, or human-on-the-loop supervision models
  • Facilitate a practical session or workshop on agent design, evaluation and testing, permissions and control layers, agentic RAG, or secure integration with DMS, KM, and firm platforms
  • Explore sponsorship or partnership opportunities to engage a senior audience of AI, technology, innovation, risk, and operations leaders shaping the next generation of legal systems

We are particularly interested in perspectives from law firm AI leaders, legal engineers, advanced technologists, risk and governance leads, and system architects with hands-on experience operating at scale.

Join senior AI, technology, and innovation leaders at Agentic AI Design for the Legal Profession to:

  • Gain practical frameworks for designing and governing agentic AI systems — treating autonomy as an engineered capability, not an experimental add-on.
  • Learn from practitioners who have moved beyond pilots to production, deploying autonomous AI across legal workflows with embedded supervision, auditability, and control.
  • Connect with peers shaping the next generation of legal systems, from agent orchestration and system integration to governance, risk ownership, and firm operating models.

Stay tuned, speakers and panels coming soon!
