Bernard
Director of Knowledge Management, Litigation
McDermott Will & Schulte
As Director of Knowledge Management – Litigation, Catherine leads the design and implementation of McDermott’s GenAI strategy across all Litigation practices. She works directly with other KM professionals, client teams, and practice group leadership to evaluate and select AI and GenAI products, identify high-value use cases, develop implementation methodologies, and integrate GenAI into core litigation workflows. She also oversees a cross-functional team that has developed and deployed a suite of custom task-based GenAI Assistants tailored to litigation functions and leads training sessions on GenAI tools and their practical application. In addition to overseeing litigation AI initiatives, she coordinates broader knowledge management and innovation efforts for the litigation practices, including internal KM platforms: the Federal District Court Case Hub, a comprehensive database of real-time, substantive information about 2000+ McDermott federal district court cases, and the Arbitrator & Mediator Data Hub, a repository of arbitrators and mediators referred to or by McDermott attorneys.
Catherine also maintains an active pro bono practice representing refugees in asylum and other immigration proceedings. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Amica Center for Immigrant Rights.
In her prior practice as a litigator, I represented Fortune 500 clients in complex commercial disputes before federal and state trial and appellate courts.
