Petra Smith is the Information Governance Manager at HFW – Holman Fenwick Willan, a global law firm. With 15 years’ experience in governance, Petra specialises in data protection and has worked across both B2B and B2C environments, as well as regulated and unregulated sectors. Her diverse hands-on career has enabled her to understand stakeholder needs and deliver practical governance solutions. Petra’s key achievements include establishing a global firm’s data protection framework and leading it to being ready for GDPR 2018, earning her the role of Data Protection Officer. When she’s not safekeeping data and enhancing data usability or keeping up with the latest in technology and regulation (often through a mountain of newsletters), Petra enjoys a game of Walking Rugby and long strolls with her dog—ideally winding up at a pub, because even the best of us need a little downtime!
